Blackvow is a gothic blackletter font with a narrow, broken lowercase in the textura tradition. The bowls of b, d, o and p are drawn from straight pen strokes with pointed corners, and the i and j carry diamond dots, so a lowercase line has the dense, dark texture of an old church book.

The capitals are deliberately plainer than classic blackletter: angular forms with a few hooks and wedges instead of heavy ornament. That keeps words like Black Vow or Cathedral readable in all caps, which old fraktur capitals rarely are.

Reading Blackletter

Blackletter is easiest to read in mixed case: one capital and the rest lowercase. Keep it for titles, names and short lines, and give it a size of 24 px or more so the inner counters stay open. On dark backgrounds use bone or parchment white rather than pure white.
