The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
Asset Description
Dustspur is a bold western font in the style of old wood type. Heavy slab serifs anchor every letter, and small pointed spurs stick out from the middle of the stems on H, I, N and T, the detail that turns a plain slab into a frontier poster letter.
The lowercase keeps the same weight with round, friendly bowls, so a line like Last Ride to Dustspur reads as easily as a newspaper headline from 1880. It is wide and dark, made to be seen from across a dusty street.
Building a Wanted Poster
- Name in capitals, as large as the sheet allows. Dustspur is wide, so one word per line often looks best.
- Mix sizes, not fonts. Old posters stacked three or four sizes of the same type; do the same with Dustspur caps and lowercase.
- Use ink colors: dark brown, oxblood red or black on aged paper. A slight letter spacing on small lines keeps the spurs apart.
