Asset Description
Gnashwick is a horror font that looks clawed rather than printed. Under the damage it is a plain, rounded sans serif, but every stem breaks into jagged splinters and torn notches, as if the letters were scratched into a wooden door from the inside.
Because the base shapes are simple, the damage never hides the word. Night Shift or Do Not Open stays readable at thumbnail size, while the torn edges do the scaring. The lowercase is drawn in the same way, so it works for full titles, not only capitals.
Making It Scary
- Big and close. The splinters are the point; they need around 60 px to read as scratches instead of noise.
- Light on dark. Off-white or blood red on black, or black on a dirty yellow. Avoid outlines: they close the notches.
- Let one word shout. Set the key word in Gnashwick and the rest of a poster in a quiet sans serif.
Use It On
- 🎃 Halloween posters, party invites and haunted house signs
- 🕹️ Horror and survival game titles, menus and death screens
- 📺 YouTube thumbnails and stream banners for scary playthroughs
- 📕 Horror book covers and creepypasta titles
- 🧟 Escape room and event branding
