Asset Description
Skaldrift is a Viking font built from Latin letters drawn as if carved with a knife. There are almost no curves: the O, D and Q are diamonds, the C and G are bent from two straight cuts, and the R and K kick out at sharp angles, the way runes were cut across wood grain.
It is a rune-inspired font, not real runes: every letter is a normal Latin letter you can read, and the lowercase keys type small capitals in the same carved style. A name like Fjordhammer in caps and small caps feels like an inscription on a longship.
Carving a Title
The thin, even strokes look best large and with a little air. Set titles at 40 px or more and add 3 to 6 % letter spacing. Bone white on dark sea blue or charcoal suits it, and a hard drop shadow can look like a cut into stone, while a soft glow blurs the edges.
