Chinese Style Fonts: Free Asian Fantasy Fonts for Games and Logos
Free Chinese style fonts with samples: two original Asian-inspired fantasy fonts for wuxia games, MMORPG logos and server titles, plus five Google Fonts with real Chinese characters you can use commercially.

A "Chinese style font" usually means Latin letters with a Chinese feel: roof-like serifs, brush-pressure strokes, the look of a palace gate or an old scroll. That is what wuxia games, MMORPG logos and private server titles need. Below: two original Asian-inspired fantasy fonts we made for English titles, five free Google Fonts that include real Chinese characters and allow commercial use, and how to avoid the cheap "takeout menu" look.
Quick Pick: Which Chinese Style Font for What?
| You need | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| MMORPG or server logo, epic title | Jadereign | Palace-roof serifs and small spikes |
| Elegant title, lore, book or menu headings | Silkeave | Calm serif with curled, pagoda-like serifs |
| English title plus real Chinese subtitle, brush | Ma Shan Zheng | Bold brush, OFL |
| Handwritten or cursive Chinese look | Long Cang, Liu Jian Mao Cao | Calligraphy hands, OFL |
| Clean modern or UI text with Chinese | ZCOOL XiaoWei, ZCOOL QingKe HuangYou | Serif and bold condensed, OFL |
Jadereign: Asian-Inspired Fantasy Font (Free for Personal Use)
Jadereign is our own RuneType font for titles that need to feel ceremonial and a little dangerous. Its serifs sweep upward like the corners of a palace roof, and small spikes break out of the stems. Underneath is a readable Latin serif, so a full game or server name still works in a menu or a small thumbnail.

Related: Silkeave
Silkeave is the quiet sibling: an elegant serif whose serifs curl softly like the eaves of a pagoda. It stays close to a classic serif, so it reads well in longer titles, chapter headings and lore pages.

Both are free for personal use: mods, private servers, fan projects and school work. For a commercial release, write to us for a license. They contain Latin letters only, no Chinese characters.
5 Free Chinese Fonts for Commercial Use (Google Fonts)

These five include Simplified Chinese characters and their own Latin letters, and are released under the SIL Open Font License, which allows commercial use.
- Ma Shan Zheng: bold brush calligraphy; the strongest choice for a wuxia title.
- Liu Jian Mao Cao: fast cursive "grass script"; expressive, but hard to read in long text.
- Long Cang: relaxed handwriting, good for notes, letters and quest logs.
- ZCOOL XiaoWei: a clean serif for menus and readable lore text.
- ZCOOL QingKe HuangYou: bold and condensed, for buttons, labels and modern UI.
Tips for a Chinese Look That Doesn't Feel Cheap
- Skip the "chop suey" fonts. Latin letters drawn like chopsticks or takeout menus read as a joke or a stereotype. A real serif or brush font with Asian details (Jadereign, Silkeave) gives the mood without the cliché.
- Add one line of real Chinese. An English title in Jadereign with 武侠 (wuxia) or a short subtitle in Ma Shan Zheng looks deliberate. Check any Chinese text with a native speaker, and decide between Simplified and Traditional characters for your audience.
- Keep the decoration for big sizes. Spiky serifs and brush strokes are for logos and headings. Chat, quests and inventory text need a plain font.
- Lean on colour and material. Jade green, lacquer red, gold and ink black do much of the work.
- A font is not a logo. For an MMORPG or server logo, add metal, jade or fire effects. Our oriental logo templates do that with any font, and the Metin2 font guide lists the fonts behind classic oriental MMORPG logos.
Chinese Icons for Your Game UI
Wuxia RPGs, cultivation games and dynasty strategy games also need icons in the same style: jian swords and spears, armor and robes, warriors and monks, dragons and qilin, cultivation pills and elixirs, zodiac signs, pagodas and palaces, tea and daily life. Our Chinese icon pack has 256 single-colour vector icons (SVG plus white and black PNG) with a commercial license.
