Zelda Font: Hylia Serif, Triforce + Free Fantasy Alternatives
What font does The Legend of Zelda use? The logo is custom lettering; Hylia Serif and Triforce are fan-made recreations. Where to get them, what their licenses allow, and free fantasy fonts with the same storybook feel.

There is no official Zelda font you can download. Nintendo draws the logo for each game by hand. The fonts fans use are recreations: Hylia Serif, based on the text in Breath of the Wild, and its older predecessor Triforce, based on the classic logos. Both are free to download.
Below: what each fan font is for, what to check before you use one, and free fantasy fonts if you want the Hyrule mood without copying the logo.

1. Hylia Serif: the Breath of the Wild Font
Hylia Serif was made by Artsy Omni from reference images of Breath of the Wild, whose text in turn follows the lettering of the classic Zelda logos. Zelda Universe calls it the font most people mean when they ask for the "Breath of the Wild font". It is not an exact copy of the game text, and it adds some special characters the game never uses.
Compared with Triforce, it fixes the odd spacing between capitals and lowercase, so it works for whole sentences: quotes, fan wiki headings, invitations, Zelda-themed party signs.
2. Triforce: the Classic Logo Look
Triforce has been around for years and imitates the serif lettering of the older logos. It still looks right for titles in caps, but mixed-case text spaces badly, which is why Hylia Serif replaced it for most fans.
3. The Wild Breath of Zelda: Logo Lettering
If you want the Breath of the Wild title look itself, The Wild Breath of Zelda by Chequered Ink is the usual pick. It is listed as freeware and is not endorsed by Nintendo.
These fonts are fan projects. A free font license does not cover Nintendo's trademarks: the Zelda name, the Triforce symbol and the logo stay off anything you sell.
4. Free Fantasy Fonts with a Zelda Feel
For your own game, mod, tabletop campaign or fan art title, these fonts from our RuneType collection give the same storybook-fantasy mood with original letterforms. Free for personal use, with uppercase, lowercase, numbers and punctuation.
Sablecrown: the closest classic serif

Sharp, flared serifs in the spirit of the classic logos, readable in long lines.
Fablecurl: toon and storybook adventures

Round and friendly, closer to the cartoon look of The Wind Waker era than to the realistic games.
Spirelune: temples and ancient ruins

Tall and elegant, for dungeon names, shrine titles and lore pages.
FAQ
What font does Zelda use?
The logos are custom lettering drawn for each game. Hylia Serif recreates the Breath of the Wild text and Triforce the classic logo style; both are fan fonts.
Is there a Hylian font?
Yes, fans have made fonts for the Hylian alphabets from several games. They are fan projects, so check each readme before using one outside personal projects.
Can I use a Zelda font commercially?
Treat the fan fonts as personal use unless their readme says otherwise, and never use the Zelda logo or name on a product. For a commercial game or merch, use an original font with a commercial license.
